Let me quickly tell you about myself,my name is Jerald, I'm a student of one of the most respected university in Nigeria, Hallmark University. I'm not so bad looking as i still get girls stealing glances at me, I'm quite tall of about 6.5 feet, I'm also fair in complexion, and not very muscular, I was quite brilliant since I got admitted to the almighty Hallmark University in just one trial, what others have to try countless time and yet still was not given admissions. Anyone that gained admission into my is regarded as brilliant, in short we were called efiko
But one thing is what I don't like about myself, I'm a goddam introvert, I can be indoor for weeks without even getting to see the street, just like a drink forgotten in the a fridge, I once worked at a place where I didn't talk to other workers for good one year, as in who does that? I guess Jerald does.
A little secret about me is that have never got to toast a girl before, how on earth did those guys do that, you just stop a random girl you know nothing about, and start taking to her, collect her number and end up dating her, damnit I would trade anything to learn how to do that. But why can't I do that, is it because I'm an introvert, is it that I'm shy, or I don't just know what to say, I can't even strike a conversation with those girls that steal glances at me, I just don't know what to talk about.
Segun my friend have noticed this in the short period I became friends with him, he noticed he has never seen me talking to any girl before, so as we were sitting with others in the tutorial class, he asked me, " what's even you spec of girls" I looked around to find someone that will best fit in into my ideal girl, and this girl got my eyes, I feel instant rush of adrenaline into my brain as this girl swept me off my feet.
She is such a beauty to behold, I can just call her brown skin girl, as the sun shine on her as she walks in which complement her complexion and make her glow the more, she's like 5ft tall and her natural hairdo makes her look unique to me, she has such a special oval face like what have never seen before, and what makes me dumbfounded was her eyeballs, she has a well rounde and white eyeball which makes her black pupil to stand out. For me have always appreciate ladies that have special eyeballs, but hers was different and it swept me out of my feet.
I tapped my friend absentmindedly, even though he has been staring at me as I drool over her all along, he tapped me back angrily to bring me back to my senses, I wisppared to him " that's the kind of girl I like" he also acknowledge her beauty but I quickly told him to not to even go close to her, if he doesn't whan me to strangle him.
Segun is a smater guy than I am, and he not afraid to shoot his shot anytime, infact I do call him a prostitute because he can talk to more than five girls in a day, and promise to their perfect boyfriend.
I guess God is on my side today, because she was walking straight towards where I and my friend was sitting, she was actually coming with her friend, but I guess luck was not totally on my side as the friend end up sitting between me and her, I qaa so furious that I feel like commanding the girl to find somewhere else to sit, I don't know why a friend will always show us to spoil my show.
As the lecture began, being a smart kid that I am, in no time they both result to checking my note to keep up with what was being dictated, how I wished she was the one sitting so close to me, but it's still okay as we soon started talking about what we are being taught and she also asked questions on what is not clear to her on my note
The moment she asked that she couldn't see a thing I wrote, I felt like writing more of rubbish so has to make her continue talking to me, because now not only she is beautiful, her voice is also angelic, that it send chills down my spin.
Then I got to know her name was Charity when I friend called her name, the name continue ringing a bell in my ears, it was as if have not heard the name before. The class has ended and my friend nudge me to go speak to her, and then all my morals have been nurturing left that instant, what on earth will I tell her, will I just tell her I want to be her boyfriend, or should I say I want to marry her, or maybe I should tell tell her I want to spend the whole of my life with her, will that not be too forward?
Then Segun told me what spoilt my whole day fro that day, he said " that I told him to back down, doesn't mean that others guys won't find her beautiful and talk to her, and if I'm not fast enough, my crush will forever end as a mere crush". This is ment to encourage me to go talk to her but it did otherwise, as I kept thinking of what to tell her, how to tell her, how she will feel, this is what I was still thinking when her angelic voice reached out to me, thanking me for making her use my note and saying her goodbye.
I reluctantly smilled and also told her goodbye, she smilled back and turn to leave, breaking my heart as she does that.
I just let Charity go, I couldn't even ask for her name personally, rather I heard it from her friend calling her, also not able to get her number to call or chat her up later.
I sadly picked my book as I walked out of the tutorial hall, and walked dejectedly to my hostel.
